The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game coming spring 2014
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will launch in Spring 2014, Marvel officials announced during their New York Comic Con panel this morning.
The third-person action adventure game will not be a retelling of the movie’s events, which has the same name, but a unique new story, executive producer Stephane Gravel said. It will take place in an open-world Manhattan and include characters from the film and classic comics. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will feature new upgrades, abilities and challenges, as well as a new “Hero or Menace” system. Good deeds are rewarded with additional feature unlocks, while letting bad guys go on unhindered will have negative consequences.
Players will also spend some time as Peter Parker and not just his alter ego as he investigates villains within the city.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 film will pick up where the last one left off, following Peter Parker as he fights crime and struggles to maintain his relationship with Gwen Stacy.
This game follows the 2012 release of The Amazing Spider-Man game based on that film. It was released to generally positive reviews. The Amazing Spider-Man was developed by Beenox and follows the events that take place a few months after the film. Beenox will also develop the new title.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected to launch alongside the film for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC.
